Penang's 230th 'Thaipusam' - 2016

Penang 2016 Thaipusam in colour. 

Tho' colourful and boisterous, there was an element of despair within. Food and essential necessities were thrown as waste and the temple grounds were littered with more throwaways than devotees counted. Food were given as alms to the scores of pilgrims / devotees but the price of food sold within the vicinity of the temple grounds were exorbitant. Something uncalled for. Even when one needs to fulfill their prayer, one has to pay to pray which clearly defies the sanctity of Hinduism.

++ Scores of Peacocks and Peahens were roughshod to make this festivity a successful and colourful one.
